Tree with straight, narrow greyish bark with conspicuous lenticels.
Leaves are compound, 12-18 cm long with 6-14 pairs of oppositely arranged leaflets, including the terminal pair. Leaflets are 3-8 cm long and 1-2 cm broad, oval-shaped with a slightly notched tip. Shiny above and pale beneath. Flowers are yellow, about 2.5-3.5 cm, borne in erect clusters up to 60 cm long. The fruit is a straight pod with somewhat thickened margins, 20-30 cm long, 1-2 cm wide,containing 8-25 light brown seeds.
