The rough leaves are lanceolate in shape, about 6-10 cm long and 2-3 cm broad and almost rounded at the base and apex. The mid vein is prominent beneath. The leaves are very faintly and finely teethed at the margin, often rolled down, bright green above and paler beneath when matured, but garnet brown when young. The flowers are white, solitary, and large, similar to the ‘tea’ flower. The pale brown fruits are covered with silky hairs when young and have a few seeds.
