deciduous tree, with slender branches having leaf scars. Leaves are formed in three segments, the middle leaflet is usually larger, bright green with an elongated petiole, elliptic in shape, widest below middle with a rounded base and a progressively pointed apex, about 6-20 cm long and 5-12 cm broad. Large, fragrant, creamy white flowers are borne in clusters on leafless nodes, many purplish-white filaments radiate from the centre of the flowers making them attractive. The fruit is a globular berry with a long woody stalk, about 1.5 - 2.5 cm in diameter. Seeds are about 5 mm, smooth, horseshoe-shaped, and embedded in pulp.
