Much branched tree with a greyish-brown bark with irregular cracks. Branchlets rather thick and quadrangular. Young leaf flush is copper red. Mature leaves are almost rounded in shape, with a tapering base and slightly pointed tip, about 1.5-6 cm long and 2-5 cm broad, mid vein and lateral veins hardly visible above, prominent beneath. Inflorescences with pinkish-white fragrant flowers, each about 2.5 cm are borne on terminal parts of twigs covering the whole crown of tree. Fruits erected upwards on twigs, pale yellow in colour with brown spots, globular, about 3 cm in diameter.
Forest canopy species in higher parts of the montane zone, above 1800m
