A small tree. Young parts are glabrous. Leaves are somewhat crowded on twig apices. Leaf blades are 6–15 x 5–8 cm coriaceous,obovate-oblong, apex rounded to retuse, base cuneate. Panicles orcorymbs are 15–20 cm long, twigs appressed, greyish and hairy. Flowers are crowded along 4–5 cm long ultimate branches in the axils of 3 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, short, hairy bracts. Petals at first white, soon turning red, ligulate, often halfway reflexed, about 1–1.4 cm. Fruit pedicels are yellow, 3–7.5cm and fruits are dark brown, 2.5–3 cm in size.
