Twigs thick and ridged, greyish brown in colour. Leaves often crowded at terminals of branchlets, turn purplish to bright green when mature, elliptic to oblong in shape with an almost rounded base and tip, and a rolled down margin. Mature leaves are about 7-18 cm long and 3-8 cm broad, contains a sharp midrib and about 10-18 lateral pairs of parallel secondary veins that are clearly visible beneath. Inflorescences borne at end of twigs on few finger- like axil about 8 cm long containing pinkish elongated tube like sessile flowers. Ellipsoid fruits about 2 cm long. and 3-5 mm long are shallowly lengthwise grooved.
