Mature trees with greyish-black bark exude clear, yellow latex when damaged. The crown is compact, and the branching is nearly whorled. Leaves are leathery, glossy, broadly elliptic with a rounded base and apex, and about 9-20 cm long and 5-11 cm broad. The mid vein is slightly grooved above, and prominent beneath, with numerous pairs of closely arranged lateral veins. The petiole is short. A few white flowers form inflorescences that are about 15 cm long and borne at the terminal ends. Each flower is about 3-4 cm and fragrant. The one-seeded fruit is globose, thick and fleshy, about 3-4 cm in size, yellow when ripe.
