Straight trunk with pale grey bark marked with irregular, vertical cracks. Twigs have leaf scars. The young leaves are silky. The greyish-green mature leaves with prominent stipules are 5-8 cm long and 2-4.5 cm broad, elliptic in shape with a tapered base and a shortly pointed apex. The pale yellow flowers are fragrant and borne solitary. The fruit is ovoid, about 1.0cm, yellow tinged in purple and dotted in white, dehisce to release seeds.
Canopy species in montane areas - between 1200-2300 m.
