The bark is grey, with white patches peeling into strips. Young stems are sparsely covered in hairs. The leaves are lanceolate and are about 10-22 cm long and 3-7 cm broad in size, with a minutely teethed margin, a tapered base and narrowly pointed apex. Male and female flowers are borne separately at the leaf nodes. Male flowers are white in colour, about 1.0 cm and clustered together, while female flowers with a prominent ovary are borne solitary. The fruits are globose with a beak, brownish when ripe, 2-3 cm, velvety and hairy, and contains up to 6 seeds.
