This tree has straight columnar bole that branches at a very high level. Stipules protect very young leaves which are hairy and pinkish–red in colour and fall off with the unrolling of the leaves. The younger leaves appear pale brown and turn green when mature. Leaves are fairly large, 10-25 cm long and 8-14 cm broad, elliptic to ovate in shape with a blunt base and apex, contain many prominent veins. The inflorescence is seen as a drooping cluster of whitish pink flowers. The fruit is nearly globose with 2 long and 3 short wings.
