Bushy shrub.Branches are stout and long.Bark is white or grey. Leaves are small, lamina is 0.75—2.5(—3)x 0.75—l.75(—2.5) cm, obovate, obcordate or rotundate. Flowers are greenish-yellow, axillary and clustered. Female clusters have 2—3 flowers andthere are up to 40 flowers in male clusters. Fruit is 2mm long and 3 mm wide.When ripening, fruit is pure white. There are 3—6 seeds.
Thorn-scrub and general scrubland on sandy or gravelly,well drained soils, from sea-level up to c. 150 metres.
