The pale brown stem gives rise to spreading and drooping branches. Leaves are compound, about 0.5 m long containing 4-6 pairs of leaflets including the terminal pair. Leaflets are about 3.5-25 cm long and 1-9 cm broad, somewhat tapered and elliptical in shape with a tapered base and pointed tip, attached in pairs by a short petiole. Fragrant, yellowish-reddish, tube-like flowers are seen in attractive, compact clusters with spreading reddish filaments. The fruit is a pod with 4-8 seeds about 3.5-4.5 cm wide.
