• Identification

  Small tree to 10 m high. Branchlets are angular when young. Branchlets have spines to 5-8 cm long on rapidly growing young shoots. Leaves are ovate shape. Inflorescence is axillary and few-flowered. Flowers are large, sweetly fragrant and white in color. Fruit is greenish-yellow to brilliant vermilion or scarlet red. There are numerous seeds in a fruit.
