At present, Sri Lanka is inhabited by 246 butterfly species, 26 of which is endemic to the nation. The Ceylon birdwing is one of the 26 and is the largest butterfly found in Sri Lanka. The male and female (pictured here) of the species can be distinguished by the difference in color.
